    Disco adjustable suspension

Would it be possible to adapt the adjustable air suspension system from a p38 rover to a Disco 1??

I'm going to need to replace the springs and shocks on the disco in the not too distant future so I was considering lifting her at the same time. Only downside is that I do a lot of work in the city - underground parking and my girlfriend struggles to get into the car at the moment as she's pretty short.

so would the use of the 'air springs' from a p38(without all of the height sensors and ACE bits) and a manual pumpup interfacing with a system like this be able to be adapted. that way i could have my lift and my ease of access.

Any other suggestions as to how i could acheive something like this.

methinks you might be better off contacting the http://www.airbagman.com.au/.
They definately do airbag kits for the rear of most all coil sprung Landy's (replacing the coils), and may be able to do one for the front if you relocate the shocks.

I'd stick with springs, and buy a side step for your girlfriend.

I had never ending problems with the Air Suspension on my RR. After replacing 3 height sensors I gave up and let it sit at the "default" height with no up or down.

I've now got a Disco with a 2" lift and apart from one very low (2m headroom) carpark in Adelaide I can still get into all the others without any problems.

By using non rover airbags and very little electrics there is no reason why you couldnt have an adjustable reliable air suspension system. Without an ecu and just simple controls like up/ down similar to what trucks use. My brother in law has a new merc tray truck with adjustable air suspension and looks impressive when you lower the **** end almost on the ground !

    thats waht I was thinking.
If I run airbags without all of the height sensors and ACE and whatever else is attached and just monitored the air pressure in each bag it should be a simple system that remains reliable. I had considered using rover air bags to 'keep it within the family' but im not two fussed.

You could use a manifold block to distribute the air and mount it in a suitable location - something similar to the emergency part they sell for p38 rangies.

I spose thats the whole point. If I can do the conversion for less than the cost of a 2inch lift and side steps then I'll do it. At the moment its all just in the research stage though.
