    2 RRs - options please.

    Hi Folks,
My brother can't drive due to poor eyesight and his wife can only drive autos. He has two young children and would like to bring them along on camping trips.

He has a friend with two 1983 (I think) SWB 2 door RRs - one has a raised airbag suspension, rollcage, F&R difflocks, body mods for better ascent/decline angles, big exhaust and rear seats removed.

The other is pretty standard order - except for a "performance motor" which has a holley installed. Both of these are manuals, unregistered and need a little TLC.

What options are there for automatic conversions for these?

Note that as this would be a second car - the primary being a people mover - keeping costs down is the main aim.

    Thanks for your assistance!

Has he considered selling the modded one?
If so how much would he ask for it?

A conversion is possible but probably isn't worth the hassel considering the cost of it compaired to the cost of an old automatic Rangie.

I have got an old auto Rangie, Ford C4 transmission I believe. I would gladly trade the auto setup for a manual...

With kids, he will get sick of a 2door, 4dr's are cheap enough now so i would just look for a clean 4dr auto rangie preferably on gas. If he was in vic i could sell him a clean 4dr auto rangie on dual fuel for a good price - see for sale section.

    Thanks for the responses!

Thanks fellas... as I said, they are not owned by him at this stage - and judging by the responses, probably never will be. Unless he can arrange a swap. I will let him know.

    Cheers.

If your good price comes near the straight 84 4 door with a 350hp eagle spares crate motor (350 chev) with 50k on it since new and ZF auto i picked up the other day for, mmmm should i say alot less than 2k, its a good price

If your willing to part with contact details from the modded one (via PM if you wish) and if your mate reneges on it of course, it may be a worth while trip up for me

Lucky bastard!!....sounds f####ing good at that price!!!!....a very nice combo.....is Chev 350 standard/ish?.....should be OK for the ZF then!......BTW fit an AC Delco HEI Dizzy if it's not a really "modern" motor - a top standard ignition!
