Reversing lights

The internal workings of a standard auto relay - available from just about any auto spares shop.

I see how it works....

But, ...... I prefer the switch not to carry the load.(Sw1)

use the switch to operate another relay and let it carry the load.

No need to be sorry. I had thought that 87 and 87a were both n.o. Makes sense now. My relay has 87 & 87, so is different.

I have done this mod to several vehicles over the years. No worries with relays, etc, because the wattage and therefore current draw is actually reduced.

Because the new globes have an inbuilt reflector the amount of light is excellent and there is nothing for lowlives to flog.

I don't have a pic, but with the lens on there is nothing to see. It all looks stock. You are right, household low voltage stuff. I always use the lights with the built in glass lens, just to help protect the bulb. It is pretty easy to do if you don't mind butchering the globe holders a bit.
