Thread: D2 and Diff lock

I believe it was 2002 year models that had no diff lock in the TC.

No d2 before teh d2a update model had factory CDL, The early d2's had CDL capability but no linkage to lock it, from late 01-early 02 they have no CDL mechanism in the top of the transfercase - My car was built in late 01 i beleive and it never had any CDL at all, i had to get the transfercase modified.

so if i get a 1999 or 2000 model it will have CDL but no linkage , but if i go 2001 or 2002 it will not have any CDL

Yeah. For the 2001's you're probably better off getting under and feeling to see if the nut is on there.

There is a thread about this here somewhere, in it it has the vin numbers to look for of the D2s with nothing in the transfer case.

It also goes on build date not rego date, for excample my D2 is a 2001 model release but was built in 2000.

So look on the compliance plate.

Mid 99 to mid 2001 CDL in transfer but no actuater, there have been cases of some late 2001 models having the CDL in the transfer case.

Mid 2001 to mid 2003 nothing

Mid 2003 model D2a has CDL BACK and actuater

Looking at an early V8 one.
hopefully one that has some off road toys on it,. Ie Snorkle and front bar and split charge battery. Not major will be put on anyway

That's interesting cal415, mine is build date 06/01 and it has the CDL and nut on top of th TC. Wonder when exactly in late 2001 they stopped putting the CDL in the TC.
