Thread: Tdi 300 power steering bearing

Is this bearing replaceable? I think it's my main power steering bearing (there is like a chripping sound coming from it if I give it a good shake it will stop for a while). If I take off the drive belt I can get what feels like to much movement for my liking from the pully. So has anybody pulled one apart and knows what bearing is inside?

yes it is a std "off the shelf" bearing from a bearing supplier
yes it can be changed
BUT
I replaced mine twice and wasn't happy with the PS whine after (my PS pump was always silent before the bearing collapsed then I messed with it, some say PS whine is ok but I didn't like it)
do a search on posts for one from INC a few weeks ago
