So where would one get a 200Tdi engine and gearbox??? and how much would it cost??? and has anyone actually done the conversion and seen it work???Quote:

The series gearbox will not handle the 200 tdi at best they were weak. A conversion of 200TDI and Lt77/lt230 will fit in the bay and wire up to the series loom, has been done I can look at it and let you know of the pitfalls if you wish.Quote:

that would be great. pics, pitfalls, ideas etc etc of how it was done and whether any other components needed changing to suit (fuel pumps, diffs, etc etc).Quote:

i'd kill for a good 2.25ltr land rover diesel motor if someone knows where one is!
who would you kill?Quote:

I've got two ex-mil series 3 (one with Holden - 1979, one with Rover 6 - 1981). The question is, is it worth restoring the 2.6cl rover? and can the engine actually be turned into something resembling fuel effeciency and good general use (top speed aint a priority). It seems that most people are not keen on these engines.
If not what would be the best to fit in the bay? it seems the 2.24 4cyl is the engine of choice, but I gather the conversion back to the smaller block maybe tricky, not to meniotn the gearbox connection.
Ideally I would seek a desiel - but which one?? Do I go the older 2.2ltr or a 200TDi (with bix and transfer case) or do I go izusu/nissan/toyo (ecck).
any ideas would be great
cheers
