    keys

Hi Ryan, i haven't had much to do with Land Rover electronic keyheads. However in my former career i was a locksmith. In WA by the way all you Sand Gropers. Can't wait to get back over there. Its home for me. Anyway i am digressing.... The electronic keyheads i have had experience with of other vehicle makes involve having a code for the head and a code for the actual key. The code for the key can usually be found on the locks in the vehicle. Involves taking locks out but sometimes the only way. If the Locksmith you go to (definately go to a Locksmith, the next question is how do you find a reputable one???? ask others in the forum if they know of a decent one in your area, the guys in the shopping centres aren't Locksmith's. Look one up in the Yellow pages) has the right encoder and you provide the code they can do it, for a fee of course. If you don't have the code then it should be provided in your service/handbook or paperwork provided by the previous owner. Mine was on a sticker with the bar codes in the books provided. That reminds me i should take a photo of them for my records......

Hopes this helps. If you need any further info just reply.

    Ryan,
If u dont have the Barcodes for the key(it would normally come with a plastic tag that contains 2 barcoded numbers)throw the key in the bin!!
There is no way of coding the key without the code..
You can code the blade of the key to the locks, but there is no way of coding the key fob/plip to the alarm ecu. Sorry..

Adding to Sniegy's comments, there's different frequencies too.
    Do you have 315MHz or 433MHz ?
