    Leaking brakes oh no....

Hi guys, I request some help please.

I've got a serious leak in the brake master cylinder where it attaches to the booster, what do I have to to do?

Never pulled one of these apart before...
(First time I've worked out how to post a pic hope it works).

    Thanks,

    Brake master cylinder overhaul/replace.

Step 1 - get workshop manual OR

Step 2 - Look up your local brake/clutch specialist (probably Lismore) and book it in (I would not go near a dealer for this - there's nothing special about the brake master cylinder).

Doing it yourself is not particularly difficult, but you should have the manual to do it, and if doubtful of your ability, it would be worth getting a professional to do it.

Attached is the instructions - but really if you are going to do work on things like this I would recommend that you buy the RAVE CD it has all these things in it.

Click on the 'Markets' link at the top of this site/page - and there is a collection of RAVE CD's you can buy - at a very reasonable price.

Had a closer look. Underneath the reservoir which sits on rubber grommets, the reservoir (which is not tight) appears to be leaking directly onto the metal shaft; the rear res only hence the reason the rear tank is falling but not the front. The paint on the shaft is bubbling underneath the res mount, (brake fluid on paint). The rubbers appear to be in an early state of perishing, can I change these rubbers and get them from you Ladas?

Thanks for your help guys. GQ

Sorry, I don't sell bits, but you can contact british 4wd - link above - I get most of my bits from them.

I am not sure if the reservoir seals are in the kit or available seperately.

If it's just the seals you need might be easy/cheap enough to get them from a local LR dealer.

Were you able to open the pdf

The Rave CD is the workshop manual on CD - don't ask me why they are called Rave - I have no idea.

Sounds like you should have the necessary skills with the manual - but if the problem IS just the seal from the reservoir to the cylinder, you would have to wonder about the state of the internal seals, although this external seal could have deteriorated by getting oil on them from within the engine compartment. But certainly if available separately the external seals would be a lot easier to replace than overhauling the whole cylinder.
