I need help on WHAT alternator for my disco v8i

    hi fellas

I need some help, couldnt see clearly from previous posts , on what alternator to fit in my 1998 disco v8i. The old one has carked it after a crappy repair done before I bought the car.

I heard somewhere that a bosch alternator is better and heaps cheaper than the real land rover part but if possible need a part number for a 1997 Disco V8i landy alternator made by bosch.

Any help will be appreciated. Anybody that had the same problem perhaps ?

The quote I received is $560 for the part + labour costs to fit a real aftermarket 110 Watt landy part which seems excessive!
Surely a Bosch part will be cheaper and better.

    Thanks

Since you have a late model LR, you may find that any replacement alternator is going to cost around $500. For a 2nd opinion, tyr these guys: Coopers on the Princes Hwy Sydneham/Tempe

(Might be an idea to have VIN number handy as well)

Last year, a replacement 120amp new magneti marelli (sourced direct from them not via LR parts) cost me $460 from Coopers - and that was pretty good because nobody seems to recondition 300TDi alternators anyway.
