I've got about 3 months left of the factory warranty, after that dealers wouldn't be too concerned would they.

Flash upgrade, undetectable by Dealer (except by performance if driven)
Has the correct checksum etc, so they dont know its different.

I've decided to get Tombraider's upgrade in my manual 03 Disco, after having the larger I/C for the last 20k. I wanted to try the I/C alone to see if it was enough of an improvement and also I didn't want the ecu upgrade without a larger I/C for EGT reasons. But my reasons for getting the ecu upgrade are to hopefully overcome some driveability problems - throttle delay after closed throttle, lack of power at lower revs (1200-1500) even after the delay and poor power between 2500 and 2700rpm along with a harsh engine at those revs. My driving is usually quite sedate, but occasionally I want more go than is available, so some extra grunt wont go astray. I have no concerns about longevity due to my driving habits, other than watching how much I make the engine work at quite low revs (1000-1200rpm).

    Tombraider,
I remember seeing on another thread you offer Intercoolers upgrades as well. If so are they still available and how much?

    Yes I do intercoolers....

I have 1 disco TD5 unit left and no defender right now.

Price to AULRO members is $1000.00 plus freight ($20-30)

My cores alone cost well over $700.00 to buy, theres the difference.

The cores I use are highly efficient, producing far greater results than most cheaper cores on the market.

    Cheers

    Tombraider,
Thanks for the reply about the I/C but between posting my question and you answering I've gone an bought a 300Tdi Defender to go with my Td5 Disco. I think I'd get an ear full (and more) from the wife if I also do the Disco Intercooler.

I'll keep it in mind as a project for Christmas though. Do they require any mods to the body to fit into an 03MY Disco?

And of course I can now ask if you do 300Tdi Defender intercoolers?

No mods to fit TD5 intercooler.

Jase (on this list) does TDi intercoolers.

or do you just have to be a bit careful....?

Zook -- I really think it depends how you drive. Other than towing, for me the real benefits of the increased torque/power are onroad where it is more driveable. Towing offroad it is also fantastic, but those EGTs....

Lets face it, if you go really hard, even in a stock Defender, you are at some time going to break OEM axles and CVs.

I have not broken anything yet, but power upgrades probably accelerate the need for stronger gear.
