    OBDII for DII V8?

Can anyone confirm or deny that a 1999 Discovery II V8 has an active OBDII port? If so, where is it?

    Thanks in advance.

According to the RAVE CD its

"below the facia on the drivers side"

On mine 2002 model it;s there - below the cover/facia (hinged panel where the fuses are behind) - well its below that

Thanks for that. I have a ECU reader I want to try but my car is still with the mechanic getting fixed. Wasn't sure if it was going to work but looks like I'm in with a chance now.

Very interested to see how you go with this. Please provide an update after plugging in.

My understanding is that while you may not be able to make any changes, theoretically you should receive any current error codes?

Or you might not get anything because the OBDII port services many different ECU's. Your reader may not know how to switch between them ??

And just in case, you may have to use it with the engine running...

I should know by end of next week. I tried it on my wife's VY V6 but it didn't work. Rather, it lit up and got power to go thru its menu choices and it has a choice of protcols to 'talk' to different ECUs, but ultimately didn't work. I did some research after and discovered that the VY has an OBDII port but OBDI protocols. Don't understand why bit I'm new to this. As far as I can see a variety of cars here do use OBDII and if the Disco does too this little device will be a cracker.

I'm 80% sure it does, I don't know till I check the RAVE cd though

The 1999 DII 4.0V8 OBDII port is compatible with the ScanGaugeII. It's a beauty. A comprehensive trip computer that also serves as a readout for a lot of the car's sensors plus it tells you if there are any fault codes stored. I think you can also clear codes with it.

A simple plug and play deal, comes supplied with the cable (which just plugs in under the driver's side dash area. Look in the footwell, to the left kind-of above the footrest. This cable also sources power for the port, so only one lead into the unit. This also means any other OBDII scanner should work on DII 4.0 V8. Not sure if the Td5 would work as it has a differenct ECU.
