    RR Master cylinder / booster

Tried to bleed the brakes on the master cylinder, couldn't get good pedal pressure so started looking for leaks. Looked like it was leaking around the master cylinder.

Next step was to take the master cylinder off. All looked ok until "someone" broke something off the plastic sleeve on the inside. Then also noticed that in the booster there was something loose and floating about.

Upon inspection it turns out that it looks like part of the spring in the master cylinder had snapped off. Large spring on diaphram was still in place.

I figured this was not normal - certain was part of the exploded diagram in the workshop manual.

So what turned into a simple exercise of bleeding the brakes has now turned into somewhat of a mission. Can anyone advise what the best course of action is from here?

    Thanks!

You can get a master cylinder repair kit but I think this is only all the seals etc, not the spring.

I had exactly the same problem with my clutch master cylinder where the spring broke. I could not find anywhere to get a new spring and LR do not sell them. I ended up getting a cheap old master cylinder and refurbishing it with the reapir kit.

also i think the leak was from the rubber grommets that seat the reservoir they looked sus when i pulled them out... the booster was a lucky find... dont want that stray spring pcs getting jammed in the booster... anyway I am confident that is all u will have to do to get it going i mean stopping again
