    Cool 200TDI Intercooler

I changed my coolant over the weekend in the radiator. In doing that I looked inside the hosing for the turbo intercooler.
Found nothing except a trickle of oil along the hose. I assume the same would be in the intercooler. Is this normal to have oil in there? Is there supposed to be something else in there as well?

Yes quite normal. All TDis tend to breath a fair bit. The oil is most likely passing through the (mostly ineffective) cyclonic breather on the rocker cover. It's supposed to be separated out by the breather, but they don't often do a good job.

You could try removing the breather and washing it out in kerosene, it may be a bit gummed up inside. Also use kerosene to wash out the intercooler.

Check inside the aircleaner. There will always be some oil in it, but if there's only a little in there, but a lot in the hoses after the intercooler, then the cause may be failing bearings in the turbo.

It's very little oil though. Glad to know it's normal. Thanks. I'll wash it out at the next air filter change.

i only just flushed my intercooler out two weeks ago the same thing as you oil but dont stress
do flush out the intercooler you will love the response of the motor afterwards
i flushed my intercooler out with prepsol its not oily like kero and after i had flushed with about 250ml of prepsol per flush 4 times i used my leaf blower to remove the fumes
it was well worth the time
