    County Jack

There's a County jack for sale on ebay. I'm interested since mine didn't come with one - I guess my alternative is a bottle jack.

It connects into holes in the front chassis and the rear cross-member and is perhaps best described as a hi-lift wannabe.

Anyone any experience of these? Am I better going bottle jack for the money? Are they any good as a "lite" hi-lift?

G'day Scrambler, the standard jack for the 110 is as you describe but a high lift jack it is not, actually in my opinion the standard jack hardly looks up to the job, but it must have met the required standards of the time hope that helps cheers Dennis

Almost, Dennis. Would you spend $65 on one or $15 on a bottle jack. Be honest now

    Hi Scrambler,

I have the ridgy didge 110 County Jack.

I carry it, but Dinty is right. Definitely not a Hi-lift. In fact unless you have the holes to sit it in it is useless, as the arm that slips into the hole will just drop down.

I know of a couple of instances where owners have gloated about the original jack that they carry for me to notice that the Jack Mount Holes (Also a good pipe bender) on the rear member have been covered over by accessories.

The original Jacks are good to use, but go get a decent Bottle Jack, Hydraulic.

Don't bother with the original if you don't already have it.

    Regards.

Well, I do have the holes and they're not covered by anything unless spiders have got to them. But if the jack's not up to sideways movement I reckon I'll save my money.

Thanks all. That was quick and decisive!

save the 65 for the POS your looking at spend that on the adaptor for a real high lift..

I had a play with the one that came with big red... lots of explitives....

I carry an 8 ton bottle jack I got for nix at least one high lift and an exhaust jack.

Including the time it takes to unpack all 3 and set em up stable... I can lift big red off all 4 wheels faster than the thing that wants to be a high lift can raise one.

but hey, your call IT is original equipment.

But not as decisive as you, Blknight. I'm putting together a toolkit, not a concours restoration - I'll take your advice in the contents!

umm to be fair to it the jack is up to the job, my comment was more aimed at how fnurging slow the thing is at lifting.... takes a loooot of screwing to lift the vehicle off the suspension and then high enough to let you change the tyre.

Steer clear of the standard jack. It takes forever to wind the up due to the articulation, and then they are not stable enough for the job, Forget it if you are not on flat ground with the vehicle chocked up properly. Get the adaptor and a high-lift for bush, which is much more effective, and a bottle jack for garage work.

G'day All, I still have the std Jack but never carry it, I have a Hi-Lift jack and jack adaptor that I imported from the UK about 14years ago, they (the jack is permantley attached to the back of the 110, the adaptor in the toolbox lhs) I also carry a std ex-military 2-3 ton bottle jack as sometimes it's easier to use in some situations cheers Dennis
