I have a Milford cargo barrier just fitted to the rear area of my Disco and that is using extension bars or straps from where the mount screws fit.
This is fitted from ARB.
So I cant see the problem fitting it like that to the rear of the front seat but do not carry any passengers and there will be no insurance problem.

This all seems very odd - like LoadedDisco, I had a Milford for my D1, that came with standard support/fitting bars and extended ones. The standard would allow the barrier to be fitted behind the rear seats, or if you used the extended fittings the barrier would fit up snug behind the front seats.

This was not a special - but standard from Milford

perhaps the regulations have changed, the older the car the more lenient they are basically because the regulations governing the safety device may have changed in or around the year 2000. Crumps car is made after this year so his cargo barrier must comply with 2000 ADR. Your car is older so there is no reason the car may not have had the cargo barrier installed before the year 2000.

I am just guessing but have had this experience before with other goods.

Maybe you are correct, ladas. ?? As I mentioned ^ ^ ^, I have not used mine in the "front" configuration, but just had another look & think it may not () be possible to use it with the rear seat up as the floor mounts may be concealed. Dunno really, but one day I may do a dry run.

You may well be correct all of this 'is it legal' stuff looses me, however looking the the description for the Defender barrier from Milford its shows

I used mine in both configurations without problems

What? Erected seat behind the barrier or down?
