Joel is right. According to the factory same power/torque.
The 300 probably feels for powerful as it run higher boost and therefore gets going easier.
Roadkill, you didn't say disco or defender.
The 200 Tdi defender is lower powered and a lot noisier so I wouldn't bother with it.
The 200 Tdi disco has same power but is noisier (engine is closer to firewall).
Early R380 gearboxes were actually worse than the very last LT77S's as far as reliability.
If it was my money, only would buy a 97/98 300 Tdi disco or get a late 93/94 200 disco with the 24 fine spline axles (early ones were matchstick 10 splines)
Sorry i should have specified a defender
I am getting commited to buy this vehcile (or should that read getting committed???)
Its is a 96 Defender, and im weighing up the pros and cons of the engines
As far as i know it has been looked after form 0 to 100 000 kms, form 100 000 to 200 000 is a bit sketchy and the last 50 000 it has been in my mates hands, (well looked after)
After having multiple dramas with a series 3 (mainly the gearbox) i dont wanna get a lemon!
Thankyou all for your replies, i really appreciate them.
:) :)
I've got a '96 110.... It's been across the Sahara, Kalimantan, Oz, NZ & still keeps on going. Not had any problems with the belt... The trick is to keep it clean & if you're using it off-road regurly, have a look under the hood at the start of each day ;)Quote:
