    Question exchange or rebuild

Just wondering if i pull out my 4.4 ltr motor whether the 3.5 or 3.9 would fit straight in without many changes, does the bell housing need modifying or are they interchangable and bolt straight up. i've got a mechanic friend who needs all this information, hes trying to work out whether to rebuild the p76 motor thats in there already or maybe we could find a good second hand motor that he could fit in. which brings me to my next question is there anyone out thee whos got a good motor just lying around that they want to sell. he's gone away to price parts for a stage one rebuild, just rings, bearings and seals, he thinks it'l be about a $1000 just for the parts. Motors leaking heaps of oil.

Mate have you done a comp test on the 4.4? if its only leaking oil, maby just replaceing the seals would fix the problem.(depends where the oils leaking though)

Do a google for the layland P76 club, I used to have the guys phone number but must av lost it,they would be able to help you source parts for the 76, helped me get a crank for one a while ago.

if you go 3.5 or 3.9 you'll notice the power differance to the P76

would't have thought a ring an bearing set, and a VRS kit would have cost more than 700-800 bucks for the 76
