Disco 1 - installing long range tank

Task for tomorrow is to install the long range fuel tank into my D1. Tis a 300tdi.

The tank is second hand and did not come with any additional fittings. Can anyone confirm if it should just be a straight unbolt old tank and bolt in new? Do i need to gain access through the floor from the top? Does a D1 even have an access hole in the floor like in a classic RR?

    Thanks.

can't help with any instal ideas, however, mine came with a 'longranger tank, a big main and a sub tank on the side,about140 litres worth allup, or thereabouts. Not knowing your brand.
From looking at it, the only plumbing variations are in the filler tube where there is a secondary fill line going to the sub tank.Plus some other tubes( don't know what they do, air I think)
the top access would only be to connect up the fuel gauge, the pump is on the motor.

if i knew how to post photos Iwould take some for you.

I installed a Long Ranger 120L main and 32L side tank in my D1 300Tdi about 6 years ago. You'll need to get access to the hole in the back floor to disconnect the fuel lines from the sender unit. You may need to soak the top of the old tank to remove any deposits around the sender unit before it can be cleaned and removed. Depending on the tank you may also need an extension tube or mod of the filler pipe. Sorry I can't provide any pics or instructions as the D1 was written off a few years back.

I hope you have more luck than me in getting to the fuel sender port hole. In order not to cut the carpet as per instructions I had to pull it out from under the rear bins... but you cant. So I had to pull the entire interior out of the rear to lift the carpet to access the sender porthole. The install took me an afternoon and a night. Next time I'll pay someone to do it.
    Cheers
