Then yours is unusual judging by the number of posts on various fora about this P38A subject.

Mine will occasionally come on when the car is stopped (ignition off) after a run (as they are intended to do).

yeah.....the come on after car is stopped [ignition off] after say a longish run on a really hot day.....but they do also come on when A/C is turned on.....not straight away - but after a few minutes when car is running but stationary....i'm not sure if they run whilst car is travelling at speed....logic would dictate they wouldn't need to.

Maybe variations in sensor sensitivity or local temps could account for the differences?.....or year or build date model?....mine's a July 96 build...

My old Classic RRs and current 93 Disco come on immediately A/C is on......and also come on after parked and engine is hot....like I first said.

I found the problem. Both of the fans are cactus. One will work if you give it a flick and the other is dead.l So now I have to hunt down replacments. Anyone got some spares???

I'd pull them out and try and get them apart to see what is wrong. Failing that I'd then take them to the wreckers and see what else will fit.

The one from my Rodeo was serviceable but going from what others have said here the Rover ones are not.

I caught a Rangie owner in our club flick starting his thermo fans the other day

I saw some on evilBay at what I thought were quite good prices.

I can't check as evilBay is blocked from work.

Well, i did a little research on Friday in regards to these fans. I work in the automotive ind and one of my customers is a auto parts store. We had a look in a catalogue and found exactly the same fans that come off a LR, so we gave the supplier a call and what a shock. To buy the fan complete was $635 and the motor alone was $135, so if anyone ever needs a new one sit down when you get the price. I have been told that the motor from a TM Magna fan is the same and a lot cheaper in price, only diff is the plug on the wires, so Im off to find one and compare....cya...B
