    When a 2" lift is not a 2" lift

Bought some King Springs Raised, the saleman asured me they give a 2" (50mm) lift..throw them on the toy and they don't look much higher if any than the HD standards already on there... Well I send an email to Kings and the reply I get is that they never have or would advertise their springs as a 2" (50mm) raise, infact they are only 38mm above standard..if you want a true 50mm lift on a defender front I am to use Kings Range Rover rear springs KRRS-02..

How the Hell is a consumer supposed to know that if you want a 2" lift then use the rears from another model vehicle...

Interesting. Will have to remember that when I replace Shrek's legs.
Did you get the KRFR-03HD which are touted as 2" for Disco and Defender? Sorry that is for a TD5, on the Kings catalogue it does show KRRS-02 for the County V8.??
Apart from that how do the Kings ride as normally they are a great price option?

There Good ride and handle quite well except I need the full 50mm Craig, I have a front pair of KRFR-03HD you can have for a Slab, now I have to get the Rangie rears for my front

Try Lovells 50mm lift springs, they are actually made and labelled for each corner to compensate for the driver, battery, etc, my 2" lift springs actually were just above standard ride height with the vehicle fully loaded and fuelled, Regards Frank.

I am looking a doing similar shortly. Just spoke to Chris from Kings, the recommended combo in their catalogue is to allow for a bit of sag in the rear when loaded, but as I am putting in poly airs as well should not be an issue. Same as you I want to get the front end a little mor level. Probablly KLRR05 on the rear and KRRS-02 on the front instead of the KRFR-03 fronts.
Let me know how you go once you get the Rangie rear in the front. I have heard before that a lot of Fender owners are using a higher coil for the front to get them to sit level.

ARB are the same, their 2" lift is acually only 40mm, as Tank says Lovells are a true 2", 3" and 4" lift with their springs, unfortunatly they don't have a shock to match their springs length wise for 3" or 4" lifts, well for the Disco2 anyway, i'm experimenting with a Disco1/Defender lower shock mount setup for my D2.

Baz, I have a set of Bilstiens front and rear, bought them near new off a Dico 2 owner that had a 2" lift, everyone said they wouldnt fit or work, funny that, been on there over 12 months now, great on and off road, dont know how much kings springs for a Disco are, but the Lovell's cost $320 for all corners, cant fault them, Regards Frank.

The consumer generally doesn't know that, but what he has told you by that part number, is basically to get some standard Rangie rear springs and stick them in the front to get a full 2" lift. Newbies you can buy from King, oldies you buy second hand.

The break down on the part number is actually
    K - King (spring manufacturer)
    R/L - Rover/Leyland/LandRover (vehicle manufacturer)
    R/F - Rear or Front
    S/R - Standard or Raised

-02 - (Spring part number extension)
HD - if applicable for heavy duty (heavy load) springs
    SP - Specials (customs)

So, a KRRS-02 is a standard rover rear spring out of a Rangie, a county petrol raised 2" and a County Diesel standard height.
    Cheers

MaxP and I both run KRRS-02 in the front of our defenders.

And then a set of custom wound coils in the rear, Max at 290Lb, me at 320lb
