Back of valve? I have only found the other type. I want a set oneday when I have some dosh to spare. Seeing the number of vehicles I have seen in the last week driving on very to tottaly flat tyres they are a good idea.Originally Posted by Jamo
Anyone got any experience with typre pressure monitoring systems?
I'm thinking of fitting one but want to know whether it's better to have the sensors that strap around the rim or the ones that fit onto the back of the valve?
TIA

There is a 'butterfly' type of sensor that sits on the back of the valve or may even replace the existing valve. But I think that care may be needed when removing tyres with these fitted.

I've got one I bought from AWDTech (Berrima Diesel) http://www.awdtech.com.au/
It screws to the back of the valve stem (the tyre has to come off and special valve stems fitted.
The control/monitoring unit has now gone faulty as has one of the sensors in the wheel.
Cost me about $450.

Ron, is yours Smartire or Sensatyre?
Dont use the valve style...
Too easy to break whilst fitting/removing tyres...
And when deflated for offroad tyre roll can break them.
The band clamp ones work best.
Tombraider,
Can you figure out a way to get the band ones to work with secondairs?
Cheers

sorry tusker but you cant do it, well you can but the first time you run flat or bound the tyre onto the second air at the attachment point your going to kill something...
Depending on why you want tyre pressure warning stuff I personally like the valve stem screw on indicators, kind of like a staun but they have a dimple that pops out if pressure is low. Makes for easy checking at the servo but not much chop for on the move
