    One of them storage thingies?

    Hi

I have got a 7 seater TD5 that I am preparing to take with me on a six month holiday around aust

I want to remove one of the very rear seats and replace it with one of those storage bins that you get in the 5 seater variety

However I have not had a close look at one of them. Are they a seperate item that you can affix, or are part of the moulding.

In other words, can a buy just the bin and fit it?

    Thanks

If you pull out the seats and make a false floor out of ply up to and in line with the wheel arches you will have a simialr storage area at the side and the benefit of under floor storage. I did this to my Disco when I had it. Less than $100 and look the part if covered in carpet from Clark Rubber.

If you pull out the offside/drivers side 7th seat (or 6th if you count in that direction) you would have to remove the trim also to fit a LR storage bin - expensive - it would be easier/cheaper to just take out the seat and make up your own box.

The reason I suggest the offside/drivers side is IF you have rear Air Con, you wouldn't make too much space if you did the nearside/passenger side

    Hi John
Unfortunately the 5 and 7 seaters are quite different. As others suggest it will be cheaper and offer more room to make your own setup.
Give serious consideration to a cargo barrier,in the event of an accident loose lugage can be lethal.

I've rung around Sydney and a few hundred klm's around and Melbourne trying to get the storage boxes and unique side trim panels to relace my 2 folding seats .........NO JOY!! ......it seems they were pretty flimsy and haven't lasted.

I suppose if it's only temporary, you could take out seats and fit carpet covered plywood panels .......all that luggage would hide your handywork?!?

Looks like I'll be making my own then

I dont want to remove both seats as I'll be taking my 3 cherubs with me as well.

Two in the middle and one in the rear is a good configuration

Its nice to keep them seperated. Having all three together next to each other for 6 months would not be a nice way to spend the holiday
