    Not another tyre thread...

    Hi guys...

Which tyres besides BFG MTs are made in a 255/85/16 size??? Interested in both muds and ATs.

Also, for those in WA, where is the cheapest place to buy tyres.

Cooper STT and one of the maxxis tyres are the only ones that i'm aware of that are made in that size.

I think it was the Cooper ST and the old style STT.

BFG I heard have stopped making the 255/85's, just check on that as I could be told second-hand bull****. I got the last set available in QLD a couple of months back and the bloke at Bob Jane informed that there was only a small shipment of 255's arriving not long after that and that was it, no more

Maxxis are making them so that's a saving grace at least, also much cheaper

    My Gosh,

revisiting tyres again. Everones for's and against's will come back out of the woodwork.

I have this size in the ST's, and whilst a lot of people seemed to have bagged them, I have nothing but praise for them.

I inherited them near new on my Previous County. I have carried them over to my new (scratching head) county.

So Impressed I bought a couple more for the Off-Road Trailer. Along with the matching steel Speedie Rims.

    I'm Happy.

Been researching this a little lately for my county I also want either 255/85/16 or 33x10.5R15 seems to be very little available in these sizes once you go to 33" all seem to be 12" wide or more. I have found these:

Maxxis and cooper have 1 tyre that come in 255/85/16
    http://www.maxxis.com/products/autom...ail.asp?id=282
    http://www.coopertires.com.au/tyres/st_specs.htm
    BFG have both sizes
    http://www.bfgoodrich.com.au/index.p...s.off_road_suv

Whether any of them are available in Australia is another question what Aquarangie heard seems to suggest not, I have not checked availablilty as not sure if I can afford yet. Be interesting to see what others have found.

How about the Simex ET 32x9.5x16? Has anybody has been using this? As I can see from simex's website, the size is very simular to 255/85/R16. I am wondering if that could be fitted to a 90 with standard "boost alloy" and standard suspension?

Thanks for the info - and thanks for the links Luke.

The Maxxis look very similar to MTRs (my favourite all-round tyre) - so I may have to look into them...

I've just ordered a set of 255/85 BF muddies. There was only 3 left in the country but as AquaRangie pointed out there is a shipment arriving mid Nov. Noddy put some 255/85's on his Defender a few weeks ago and he also said they were in limited supply.

I'm not sure if BFG stopped making them but there seems to be a limited market for them.

I used to run the 32 10.50 16 ET on disco steelies. It would rub the rear tower a bit, but the 110 runs a bigger coil than the 90. I doubt you'd have any major issues.
