The light on one side of the gear selector(the one that illuminates what gear you are in), along with the cig lighter light have just gone. Where and what should I look for?? (98tdi auto-base model aka 's').

oh dear, something going wrong in relation to an auto box, swap it out for a manual mate, theres a stonking great lever to tell you what gear your in instead of a namby little light.
when do ya want to do the rear rotors?

I like my namby lights...this is the only imperfection on the whole car![]()
I love my car, it must be perfect, I am not obsessive.
i've got the same problem. (same disco as you too). the drivers side lights are out. i think my cig light is ok though.
if theres only one light out , has to be a bulb or its connection.....theres a bulb either side of the T bar and theyd both be wired in parallel to the same circuit..(i would imagine)
Hi, my disco had the same problem when I got it and it was just a blown globe and easy to fix. Simply grab the back of the plastic surround the goes around the gear selector and pull up and off, now you will be able to get to the globes- one on each side of the T bar. Turn the globe holder to the left and pull out. They are a wedge type globe. I put in 3 watt ones as I found the 5 watt got too hot, but that was my personal opinion. Hope that helps..B
thanks bellaposs I'll have a look. Do other disco drivers ever notice that the window controls in the centre get hot?..I am almost cetain this is not just from the sun.
Yep they do get hot, you can always replace the 'bulb' for a lower wattageOriginally Posted by edddo
