    Defender cubby box/fridge

I'm looking for ideas to replace the cubby box in the defender. What have others done?

One option I'm considering is to put a small box and tray under a small fridge. I notice most of these small fridges are Thermoelectric and only cool to ~20C below ambient temp. In my case ambient temperature is about 30C most of the year so are they any good?

The peltier cooler jobs are great when you have the aircon on and dont stop the vehicle for too long...

but they dont have a hope when you leave the vehicle parked...

That said... I used to use one in the cranes and trucks before i rejoined and it kept my lunch good in Townsville with the following in the little 6 pack dicksmiths one.. All of it was prechilled or frozen before putting it in.

    1X frozen can of coke.
    1x can of coke
    2x bottles of water
    2x sandwiches
    2x poppers and
    a handfull of chockie bikkies.

As they only draw about 1.3 amps the cheapy 24/12v converter they sell fits inside the plastic casing above the fan and heatsink... so I put that in too...

Firstly its for a Defender, A/C isn't that effective anyway. What you mentioned about when the vehicle is off is my main concern, didn't think they would cope.

Anyway I'm still interested in cubby designs, the fridge is just an idea to add to it.
