I think thats a silly comment to make, seeing most of the major airlines and the US military have been using microlon for over 30 years.

Sorry, but I doubt that very much.

The tests involving cars with no engine oil on page 3 are really quite amazing.

Yes I remember that one. Always intended to put it in my car back when everyone was raving about it. Heard a few years later that it was supposed to be bad for the engine. I don't put addatives into my oils.

I am sorry - but I am very synical where oils/addatives etc., are concerned.

If these 'wonder' products really worked the major engine manufacturers would recommend their use - then they would make all these claims - like 40,000 between changes, eliminates all engine wear...................

Sorry but it just don't cut it for me.

Cited from the Slick 50 site above

    "
Finally, you may have seen the commercial where two engines are allowed to run without any oil in them and the one which had the special oil additive keeps on ticking after the other engine has conked out. This may be appealing to the car owner who never changes his or her oil or who runs his or her car without oil, but it should be of little interest to the person who knows how to take care of their automobile. "

    Toucheeeeeeeeee!!

Having said that, I used Nulon's Diesel Injector cleaner at the recommended double treat rate in a Land Cruiser that had done 240,000 kms without ever having a fuel additive used... The results were spectacular in terms of performance.

Also used it on my Discovery but it didnt need it as badly as the Cruiser did.

Its the old story 'oils a'nt oils'
whilst there are those who swear by additives, there are others who just swear.
I worked with a bloke some years ago , who reckoned the only thing you should put in anything that has oil as a lubricant is molybedium disuphate( I think thats how you spell it)or commonly called moly.
He too swore by the stuff, His old toyota landcruiser still went like new after treatment with it.
You used to be able to buy it in a little yellow tube, but i haven;t seen it for ages.
He told me his research on the stuff, was that the germans used it in there fighters in ww11. and that it had stood the test of time.
funny if anyone is into ammo reloading, you can now buy( if you don't want to do it yourself) moly coated projectiles,
Have I tried it, no because I can't get hold of the genuine article.

Nulon has been in the gearbox of the X1/9 for years - it was put in to shut it up a bit and make the shifts a bit easier - worked instantly and has done ever since, improved an otherwise cranky box with even crankier synchros.

If the box or donk (or diff) was tired, I think the improvement would be far more noticeable than if all was well in the first place.

I used to put STP in the old Fairlane 351Windsor - it was old and tired, but the goo helped keep this motor running for quite a long time.
