    MD steering dampener conversion.

    Hey guys,

Just a quick question regarding the Maxi Drive steering dampener conversion brackets for the Range Rover. It moves the steering dampener from the track rod to the front on the drag link.

I have the bracket that mounts to the chassis, the heavy duty drag link and also the piece that connects the drag link to the pitman arm from a Defender. It has the bracket on it to mount the steering dampener eyelet.

So to get to the question.......which side of the chassis rail does the bracket get mounted on???? A preliminary inspection (just kinda holding the dampener in place) shows that it might work on either side.

Has anyone done this conversion on a Rangie?
    Cheers

Yeah I should have clarified that a bit better. I realise it go's on the passenger side but I'm wondering which side (inside or outside) of the rail.

I've just fitted it all up and it seems my dampener is fully compressed before I reach full lock to the left, with the bracket on the inside of the rail. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be fully extended before full lock to the right if I move the bracket to the outside of the rail.

I'm a bit lost on this one. The dampener is a Defender type one. Any ideas anyone?

BTW Nick, Brakes are sorted. Thanks for asking.
    Cheers

Whoops! I had the bloody thing on back to front.

It go's on the outside of the passenger side chassis rail with the little dog leg bend going in under the chassis a little. Does that make sence??

    Anyway it's all sorted.
