    springs for an Isuzu 110

I am looking for brand recommendation on standard height springs for my Isuzu 110 (no self levelling unit - pretty heavy gal chassis). Looks like from previous threads people have used Kings, Lovells, LRA, OME, Ironman & donaldsons on their defenders. The county Isuzu's have a heavier spring to account for the heavier motor.

I am trying to achieve good balance of articulation and road manners I suppose.

I am also weighing up whether to go with a 130 twin spring rear setup or airbags, especially if the airbags cost less than $200 like the firestone ones. The idea is to help road stability and load capacity without affecting articulation too much.

I am not worrying about a lift at this stage. I don't think I will need it for the driving I will probably be doing.

    thanks

    RAR110,

I have LRA orange front springs in my Isuzu Rangie. I'm really happy with the ride quality, as I hate stiff springs, and I am using DeCarbon shocks, which have fantastic valving and suits my vehicle perfectly. The ride height is a touch above standard, maybe 25mm, but I have a steel TJM winch bar( NO winch though) and Aircon, intercooler , oil cooler, etc in the front.

I'm using Purple/ orange in the rear, and with my Longranger 136litre tank full and a bit of gear, she sits level. These are quite long and soft springs, and give a good ride empty also. They won't fit the 110, as the diameter is too small, but you may find similar rate to these in 110 springs by checking LRA's spring rate chart on their website.
I have actually used standard defender rears in counties, and found them slightly stiffer than the originals, as the fenders don't have ride levellers, but will still give a good ride and height.

When do we get pics of the resto??

air bags in the rear spring work pretty good for me, i run around town with 3-5 psi in them and 25psi when i'm fully loaded

on my simpson desert run i lowered from 25psi on the desert to improve the articulation a bit

    Springs

I run Kings in my Isuzu Rangie. We got the load rating from the Perentie and modified our springs from there. From memory Kings listed all the County and Perentie ratings. If need be I can give you the code off my springs but it is 2-3" lift and a touch softer than normal.

    Dranged,

Interesting Signature. So only the cockroaches will get to enjoy the fruits of my labour.

I've got a right mind to squish everyone of them that I see now.

I spoke to Dobinsons in Rocky, about this very subject last month, but I'm after about a 2inch lift, and also a good balance of articulation and road manners, without the ride leveller. They seemed to have a good idea of what was required, with plenty of options and very happy to experiment. I like the idea of the 130 inner springs, as I've seen airbags fail.

JB's spring info page is the best one going around.
    here

130 rear springs are pretty damn stiff. Remember that 110 HD rears are 330lb/in and the inners are 140lb/in and putting that together gives you a stiff bum. Having said that, I know of one Crew Cab with a camper on back that is running some Lovells 500lb/in springs with the 130 inners and the thing still rolly polly's around corners...

FWIW with the Tdi and mucho bar work I'm currently running the LRA 'purple' springs in the front. When first installed and checked after a week this gave me around 117mm drivers side, 114mm pass (or was it 120/117mm ??) side between bump stops. Currently down around 107-103mm after four years.
At least this balanced up front to rear, and it's still rump high with the (constant) 5-600kg in the back.

Thanks for the feedback. Dobinsons was another brand recommended by British Off Road.

Hopefully will be on the road and registered tomorrow. Will get some picks together then.

    thanks.

I have kings in my isuzu 110 (fitted by PO). I think they are about stock height (or an inch or so higher). The load leveller doesn't work, but the rear still sits higher than the front.
