    I was bored...

    The ADRs are here

    http://www.dotars.gov.au/roads/motor...dr_online.aspx

    The relevent numbers are

    adr 23
    http://www.comlaw.gov.au/ComLaw/Legi...3?OpenDocument
    and
    http://www.comlaw.gov.au/comlaw%5Cma...7?OpenDocument

ADR 24, relevent to selection is apparntly no longer relevent

Vic roads also mentions another couple but they are only to do with space savers and repairs

good bit of info but, ADR;s relate to design regulations, not fitting and compliance.
    I too, decided to look,
on the exploreroz site there is a reference tofitting tubes to tubeless tyres.
the NSW RTA site, does not make any reference to the innards of tyres, just advice on speed ratings etc.fitting of labels and compact spares.

The Comlaw stuff is written in the usuall legislative jargon that makes no sense to the average person.but no reference to no tubes in tubeless.

Perhaps there is a better reseacher out there that can find something that answers the question.
To date there is no evidence to suggest it is illegal, ie there is either a fine or breach or written regulations.

so perhaps it is after all an urban myth created by tyre changers.

I'll second that although I understand the logic of why manufactures reccomend not running the tubes in a tubless rated tyre. Im surprised there isnt a law against it... but the ADR's (from memory) are no longer listed, I thought it used to be in the tyre repairs and modifications ADR...

    Tyre wench will know
