The worst one I heard of was a mate who registered a restored 1953 S1. Not only did they get the engine AND chassis number wrong, but they registered it as a 6cyl!!!
Just to add to this thread - I got a pink slip for the 2a on Thursday - no problems, no questions, braking :- peak 79%G, Avg 45%G, pedal 360N. I had to do nothing to prepare it except put the back wheels on with the new tyres (I am finishing gett9ing the use out of the old ones).
What I did not mention (remember the old saying about sleeping dogs!) is that I found when I went to order a water pump a couple of weeks ago that the engine number on the rego is wrong - and has been since the RTA read it themselves when we moved from Victoria. The first digit is missing, and having looked at it I can see how that could happen - the 2 is out of alignment with the other digits. But this whole thread shows that there are numerous errors in registration documents, mostly due to bureaucratic incompetence, doesn't it?
