    Mobil Suppliers

    Hi all,

I have been looking for Mobil Delvac 1 in Melbourne for the past 5 days. I contacted a supplier who referred me to their list of resellers (I think the point conveyed was that they do not deal direct to public.)

I ask the Victorians amongst us does anybody know whereabouts to buy Mobil D1 in Victoria (Greater Melb.)?

    Thanks in anticipation

Although they don't have it on their shelves, Repco will order it in for you. When I enquired they gave me a quote sheet dated 13/10/06, so the following is up to date:-
    part 983478 20L drum $359+frt
    part 98AK65 5L drum $90, but comes in a pack of 3, so 5L*3= $270+frt.
So I bought Delvac MX and went home.

Apparently Delvac1 is great stuff, but is it 3+ times as good as the Delvac MX. Could you justify the extra cost:-
Does it improve fuel consumption- would it save $60 of fuel over 10k?
Can you extend oil changes from 10k to 30k?
    Other benefits?

Theres been a good discussion on the benefits of synthetic oils just lately,,
    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread.php't=32009

and while cost per kay is something nearly everyone is interested in,, some people just want synthetic. and are quite happy to keep to their regular servicing schedule. some people will add 25% distance, some will double that,,

Do what you are comfortable with,,

though asking people to justify a sometimes emotive decision may not bring the response intended.

Ask me why I bought V8 instead---

    Thanks.

According to the other thread I was under the impression it was around $220 per 20L container. Regardless of cost when I do start using Delvac I will push oil changes out to 15k.

Thanks guys, I'll have a chat to Repco. Also managed to find the name of a tractor place that I'll call tomorrow.

    **UPDATE**

Checking over various forums the price for 20L drum is around $180-220. Why is Repco quoting 359+frt??

Hope most of those 15K kays are long---

If you can find a distributor (one of those places with the big fuel tanks out back, pipes everywhere, petrol tankers lurking about and large 'NO SMOKING' signs all over the place and ), you'll get a better deal.
Repco are charging you whatever % they can load on top, particularly if it's a special buy in, a distributor is charging their recommended list for commercial customers.
The price I quoted in the other thread is my distributors walk in off the street price, no special discounts, they don't really know me from Adam. The price has climbed from $186/20l of several years back. These prices include GST.

Look in the yellow pages under
    'fuel merchants'
    ''motor oils and spirits'
    'lubricants'

I just read the other thread- very interesting.
I always thought Repco was expensive, but didn't realise by just how much.
At around$220/20L I think you could readily justify the change.

Contacted the Lube Line and they put me onto the nearest suppliers.

Going to get mine on the weekend.

    Thanks again everyone
