    Radio upgrade.

After getting the alternator in my 1993 Disco I V8I re-built, I'm looking at this CD unit
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....0987&rd=1&rd=1

As a replacement for the radio/cassette as the PIN has been lost.

I can't afford to change the speakers at the moment but will do so as soon as possible.

Do you think I might get away with it for a while as long as I don't push the volume up too loud?

I just got my air satchel today with my new Alpine 9850 iPod ready CD/MP3/WMA radio unit.

You should be fine with the speakers, like you said don't run it at full volume.

As for the PIN search for the radio unit on the web there are a number of sites that offer free PIN retrieval options. Also some units use the serial no as the PIN so if you pull it out it should be on the back.

check around for prices on the same unit , i recently bought a cd/mp3 player for my disco.

i got better prices from JB hifi, other models were cheaper at Strathfield or even Repco. ebay was somtimes dearer after adding postage.

    WOW prices just plain sucked.

another thing to remember and i checked with Pioneer , the "warranty" offered is not a pioneer warranty but a sellers warranty . pioneer dont/wont honour ebay bought gear. its only the sellers warranty ..like the external hard drive i bought a few months back..........the seller no longer exists.

so if you buy off ebay remember ..its buyer beware, assume the item your buying has no warranty ..and thats got to worth extra dollars to be added to the ebay price....may not be cheap after all.

    Yes, I accept that.

But Kalgoorlie is very limited on specific items so I find EBay usually ok but I usually compare prices.

If you've lost the PIN on your own radio, it's only a matter of contacting a dealer with the VIN and proof of ownership and they'll tell you the code.

However, check your owner's handbook, it's often written in there somewhere - not necessarily where you'd expect it.
