It's limp home mode (see owners manual). Turn the car off , take the key out and give it a half hour to calm down and try again. If all goes well the lights will flash once on starting and then extinguish. If not then you may have a problem requiring a computer fault analysis. Other thing is check the Hi-Low lever is properly seated, I've seen this comment on a few forums now as a possible cause.

    Very common.

Turn the car off, take the key out.

Hit the (lock) alarm button, wait till the red flashing light on the dash stops, or a minute or two later.

Hit other (unlock) alarm button and should be sweet.

mine does that every now and again turn the key off and back on should reset,if it does not reset then you have a real problem that will need the fault codes read.

also check that there are no loose electrical plugs going into the trans

I had that at 40K and ALTO hit landrover for a $1500 new Gearbox ECU under warranty.

I bet they just turned the key off and zapped it too. Can I say that here without being sued!

    Well I have

I was fiddling round with mine and seeing if my old battery would still keep everything running.

The day after I fitted it (It was a bit low, slow to crank) and after a short drive to the chip shop - I had the limp home mode.

It did re-set, but to be on the safe side I put the new battery back in. Problem has gone away.

.................but my thought is could this problem be due to low battery power ???
