    Door hinge pin on defender.

    HI.

    Noticed a bit of movement up & down onthe drivers side door on the fender, anyone had this prob??. Looks like the pin maybe worn, getting that out looks like fun!

    Haven't looked at the latest Defenders, but I think the hinge is the same from the start of S3 to current. If so, the pin is easily punched out (with the hinge off and in vice. That is the easy bit - as far as I know, the pins are unavailable separately, and in any case the body of the hinge will almost certainly be worn as well. I have reamed out a couple of mine and made and fitted oversize pins, but the simple solution is to replace the hinge.

    Impact screw driver and just hope the captured nuts on the other side stay captured. i have used a high speed drill bit to replace the pin saves reeming and a lot of work just grind it off flush when its in

    Same can happen if one of the bolts is loose. To get out depends what type you have, either a big phillips head screwdriver or an impact driver, or possibbly on of those torx bits if torx. T handles work well for either as you can get more pressure on them. I have just replaced mine with stainless steel hex key ones from Stig fasteners in the UK.

    i've got the same problem on my ute. of what i can see, it's not so much the pins, but the cast hinge pieces.
    i know you can get these from 4 wheel drives in vic for about $28 each. probably a hell of a lot easier since the hard bit is actually getting them off.
