    Break Shudders - td5 110

I took my beasty for a LOONG drive fully loaded (1.5 tone of gear in the back)_, and had to make 5-6 emergency stops (darn roos and police pulling me over) and now when breaking down Big hills, I get break shudder

ONLY down hill (actually only mount Ously<SP> in Sydney)

Are the breaks known for warping ? ... should I just pop them on my lathe and clean them up .. or could it be something else ?

Again, its not noticeable on any other breaking situations apart from that hell of a hill that I go up and down all day, but I guess that hill is the place it gets hot...

    Thanks!
    Cam!

I think 5-6 big brakes will do most cars in--

if you have a lathe,, nothing stopping you from a quick skim,,
    and I mean skim,,
anything over a ml and start looking for new disks,,

I have never had this sort of problem with any Landrover, but shudder with disc brakes is usually due to :-

Contamination of the discs, usually with oil

Warped discs, usually due to overheating of the discs - perhaps likely in your case from the account

Loose calipers or discs, possibly including loose wheel bearings
