    Which carby for a 2.25ltr series 3

I'm slowly working on my landy. The end is almost in sight. All I have to do is the brakes and all is done for the RWC..

So my question.. At the moment the landy has a Stromberg carby on it. I've been told it has been fitted sidways, so the float bowl is in the drivers side of the engine not at the front or rear. So should I stay with this or go to a weber or a Zenith? If so is it hard to change over to ?

    Thanks for all your help..

Dayne, I fitted a late model (186 cu. in. and later) to the original L/R spacer which mounts the Stromberg with the float bowl to the front, I had to modify the L/R spacer (stud holes and blend the inner bore to the Stromberg throttle bore size) and modify the accelerater linkage, very simple mod and a great result, BTW the later model Stromberg isn't as tall as the earlier ones and the air horn hose and pipe fitted under the bonnet with no clearance problems. I bought the stromberg from the wreckers for $35, it was in good nick, check that the throttle shaft and bore is not worn (sloppy), Regards Frank.

Dayne - the holden stromberg is fine on-road but will flood on hills offroad. You can get a new Zenith 36IV or a Weber quite cheaply, but the weber is known to have vapour lock problems. My Zenith worked fine on and off-road.

Possibly the two best carbys to fit are either a twin barrel webber from a 2.5P (rare in OZ and you need a different manifold - but my father's IIA has one), or a stromberg 1.75CD (completely different to a holden stromberg) from either a rangie or a LR 2.6L 6cyl engine. The second option needs a custom adaptor.
