    D3 Phone Kit

Hi all was woundering if anyone has had a after market hands free kit fitted to their D3 as I have one from my TD5 that needs to go in the D3, but the bloke that installs them for us said that he thinks it will have to be done by Land Rover.
It was good to meet the stayers on Sunday arvo at Mt Cootha

    Bigmac,
Try another installer, other phone kits can & have been installed into the D3.

    d3 phone kit

Mate its not always the phone kit thats the problem it can be the installer,if you want reliablity then go genuine ,after market installers havnt been trained on the complex electrics or the repocussions if not done correctly.
    good luck

Hey Mate, I have blue tooth in my car for a Nokia. Now from memory I had an installer put the phone system in but couldnt get it to work through the LR system, there was some code or something or rather. I then took the car to LR here on the Coast and they got on of their people to hook up the rest and now it works fine. Hmm not much help was I really ,

    Regards

I've had my satphone cradle in the car for a year and it works fine. It has it's own speaker and doesn't use the LR system.

The car electronics will only get upset if the load is too high and that won't be the case for a mobile phone.

It's only if you are using the LR PTI system that you may need the dealer to install the 'drivers' for your particular phone.

Bigmac, I know that there have been folks who've had trouble before with car manufacturers honouring warranties, but..

The phone is extremely unlikely to be the cause of any problems.

I have satphone, UHF, dual battery, spot lights etc (all non-LR) and have had warranty work done. Neither the dealer nor LR has had any problem nor have they even intimated that my warranty might be void.

Some have their cradles mounted on a thigy that attached to the air vent, some are in front of the shifter, some are in the centre cubby. For mine,, I removed the rubber coin holder thingy next to the auto shifter and had a bracket made to attache the phone cradle to (because the satphone is a bit of a brick and this was the only logical place). THe speaker is up under the lhs of the drivers footwell.
