Heater matrix Defender 300tdi
I've been driving around for the past couple of years with the hoses to the heater matrix blocked off and re-routed back through the head.
Of course it has a leak.
Now after Ron was running that leak stop stuff through to fix his heater matrix I thought I might have a go at it too.
Only problem is that my radiator was recored a fortnight ago, and I don't really want to put any kind of additive through it.
Also much too lazy and cheap to fix heater matrix.
Anyone reckon I could run the leak stuff through the heater matrix without attaching it up to the engine and once the stuff has set, or whatever it does, reattach the heater matrix, top up the coolant and not have to worry about contaminating my pristine rad?
Cheers
Simon.

Chemi-weld and Bars leaks are non-blocking stop-leaks. BL is also a corrosion inhibitor. I don't think they can be mixed with anti-freeze, but they will stop leaks, especially Chemi-weld which I have used on a cracked block successfully. Both need a warm engine and air to make them seal, so you would need to pump hot coolant through the heater to make it seal. Perhaps you could use an electric pump from a reticulation place; maybe even a windscreen washer pump or something similar. Running some extra long temporary hoses out of the engine bay to the pump wouldn't be difficult.
