I have seen kits and home made jobbies that sit up against the passenger side firewall, you have to relocate the alarm horn and the inertia switch I think.
Have a search through the forums I am sure there are pictures of various location
I have spotted the spot were the jack sits in the front passenger side of the engine bay,, This appears to be the same as the driver's side were the starting battery is located.
The only troubles are -
-relocating power steering resevor, looks to be easy
-looks like a charcoal filter or something, dosn't look hard either
-Air intake, ok I could just cut the big horn off the end & then I will have room, but I want to fit a snorkel in due coarse, so how will this effect the fitting & how does the snorkel hook up to the standard air drum ?
Has anyone fitted a different air box ??
Any other locations for the 2nd battery??
There will be 2 more batteries located in the side pockets in the back, but they will be run seperate & charged by solar.
Thanks in advance for all your help & suggestions.![]()

HI,
My car has a snorkel so no horn infront of the air filter box. My 2nd battery fits perfectly in front of the air box next to the power steering reservoir.
I suppose its easier to fit once the snorkels all fitted... couldn't see mine fitting comfortably any other way.
i had to move nothing to fit my second battery in. but i have a snorkel.

There's a heap of room on the left side, just exnay all the fiddly bits, they can be mounted elsewhere.
If you're seriously into getting battery power, there are some interesting long, wide and flat types available.
google and type in 'EV' (electric vehicle) and a whole new world will open up.

I forgot to mention I have a D1 3.5l V8.
The way the air intake is run, it runs straight to the front passengers corner & incroches on the area I am talking about.
If anyone has the V8 with a snorkel fitted I would like to see a piccy of how it hooks up.
Like wise if anyone has fitted the 2nd battery & has a piccy that would also be great.
The spot on the fire wall I think relates to the DII, thats were I had mine.
Where the jack is now is the 2nd battery tray, just make a little extension to the ps reservoir bottle bracket and bend it out of the way, stick the jack under the seat or get one that works. Early V8 disco's have the round steel filter as per efi rangies, you need to cut the horn bit off so there is room for the battery- snorkle or not. Buy a battery clamp and a dual batt controller and your away.Originally Posted by Gidget

Not on the early models,, it comes out of the end of the cylinder.
