I have a 4D maglight attached horizontally to the front of the drivers seat box up the top behind my knees using a couple of maglight clips.

In my S2 Disco I have one clip holding a 3D at a sloping angle in my drivers door pocket. ie butt resting on bottom of pocket and top in clip to hold in place.

    FWIW,

To all of you who have your maglites installed where they can release in a FWD direction you should think twice; ie behind you legs under the seat etc. In the case of any decent (40km/hr +) type frontal accident your legs are in serious jeopardy of having the mag light break them. Or during sudden emergency braking have the light come loose and interfer with your pedal or feet.

Again, if installed on a barrier in the passenger side of the compartment you are also in danger of having this potential heavy missile in the passenger cabin.

The only way to ensure that these item don't release when mounted in a FWD direction release manner is to use some clips (at least 2) that are positive locking (ie typical fire extinguisher camover clips) which are not practical, or a tube (like a fishing rod holder?).

The maglite clips are not sufficient to hold these lights in an accident.

We all add stuff to our cars but rarely keep in mind what could be lethal to us in an accident.

Sorry to put a damper on the topic. This is the sort of stuff I normally deal with at work.

Replaced my MagLite with a SureFire 6P. Fits perfectly into the little recess in the door of my D2 just above the speaker. Fantastic light output but if not enough, order the P61 beazel upgrade which gives you 120 lumens.

As durable as a MagLite and perhaps a little more handy. Spose you can't really beat the MagLite when you need to negotiate with Skippy after he's just caved in your quarter panel.

If you can't get the genuine Maglite clips, there are other clips (the name of which escape me at the moment) for holding round objects.

mine behind the cubbybox, in the center, near the floor, on the 6inch wall of the front seat boxes. The middle person still has room, but bugger all...

Now, that's how I did it. With a pic instead of lenghty explanations:

And, for the one interested, so did I mount a Maglite in the Disco:

    Cheers

D1 but I remove the rear passenger roof grab handle and mounted the maglite brackets instead.

I have mounted 4D Maglites on top of the seat box between the seat and the door BUT DO NOT use the steel tool clips (tulip clips?) or any clips. I use double ide velcro straps.
Steel clips can and will dig into back of your leg when sliding out of the 110. Can be painful!

Also keep a head torch around the head rest.

    Regards
