    Battery switch.

I have been thinking of fitting a battery cut out switch to my fender, $20 or so from Autobarn, but was wondering about retaining the radio codes/clock etc. Does it work to bypass the switch with a low ampage wire with a 3amp fuse direct to those items. The idea of the switch is security so it would be turned on/off daily.
If not how have some of you more gifted 'fitters' got round the problem?

On a different note, I once bought a landy from the place below, great fun it was (N.A. 110 ex army)

it's interesting to see the sort of money that some nice vehicles are being offered for !

Yep there is no reason why you couldn't do that - long as you know where to link the low amp wire to - and you don't forget (if you purely put a by pass in) and try and start the vehicle \\

.........could cause a few burn outs

I saw something only last month (may have been in LRE) about a security cutout for vehicles that used the +ve battery terminal. It had a quick disconnect that could be removed so the battery lead couldn't be attached and also so that your radio etc all kept working it had a small fused wire to allow a few amps to run power to essentials.

Exactly what you describe. The theory was if you tried to start the car the smaller wire would blow the fuse.

its only really the radio and clock that need constant power.......
so it shouldnt be a problem at all.......

the clock wont draw much current at all.......
and the radio has its own memory wire......
thats all i can think of that need to be connected to power.....

and whatever accessories you may have fitted.......such as a fridge.......etc....

Does the ECU not also require a constant feed to retain the memory values?

When I converted my 130 from carbs to EFi....I could have sworn that a constant live feed was needed...
