If it was hanging out of its holder then no it wouldn't. Doesn't mean it shouldn't.

My Disco runs the fans when hot even after you have stopped the motor. Only done it once though.

Just about to tell you that it is the sensor for the heated washers and mirrors ..... Comes on at about 4 degrees ambient.
I found mine when I rebuilt the front end, and refitted it to the panel when I replaced all of it with early RR inner guards and rad support. I like my auto heated washer jets and mirrors.

Does this mean my Rangie has heated water jest and mirrors, or is that just on European spec ones ?

In the first instance.. I'll be f&^&^& !

    If the latter, typical !

It certainly will have Vlad, but it needs to be a cold day for them to actually work.

I was fitting some HID headlight inserts to my 89 model recently and found one of those as well. I also wondered what it was but was not interested enough to ask anyone.

Don't know why I take a thermos with me camping then. From now on all my hot water for coffee is coming straight from the washer bottle!
