    Red face Nasty box

G-day all, shorty943 here. A new member to this organisation and brand new as a landy owner. I recently picked up a 79 S2a 109 panel van. Has already gone places and done things my bloody great powerful F100 just could not. I don't understand but I kind of like how 68HP can perform in a way that 500HP couldn't. Now to my problem. The little dear has a fair amount of backlash in the drive train, and seems to jam in 4th gear in a climb. That is, on over-run slowing down she is fine, however under power when a lower gear is needed to climb a hill, the box will not release from 4th gear. Has anyone else encountered this quirk. Yes I know there is probably truck loads of wear in the box, maybe a shoulder worn on the gear sets or some such. Any advice for an Ex-Serviceman pensioner will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance Shorty943.

Blknight, Isuzurover, thanks chaps. Temporary fix is to drive gently and source parts.

Appears there are 2 ways to climb hills in a Landy.

    1. Let her work her way up in top at about 50 KPH.

    2. Reduce speed, shift into 3rd, and she will wander up at about 50 KPH.

As the yanks say, go figure.

regards to all, have a good christmas and new year.

    shorty943.
