Deep cycle batteries

There main concern was in case of an accident the possibility of a spark and gas fumes being in a contained area. Under the bonnet is more ventilated and there is gas shut off valves that switch off the system when the engine has stalled minimising the risk of fire. The rules may of changed, but like I said , just check it out. I think their thoughts were that incase of an accident the seals that vent the gas outside could be broken. . Brad

the same is said for shut off valves dont jam open in a accident :angel:

any thing can fail and nothing is fool proof or accident proof:wasntme:

Been following this thread. WOW, don't you guys get excited.

I believe you have a couple of options. If you want high current for winching then forget about deep cycle, they just won't cope.

Either you go for a decent size high crank capacity battery, or try one of the new ORBITAL type, these are supposed to be capable of both.

Note please, I have no personal experience with the new ORBITAL.

However as a retired Marine Engineering Officer, I do have some experience with electrical storage systems.

You can not have your cake and eat it too.

Either , deep cycle-lowcurrent output, or Intermittent cycleing-high current output.

Fair enough, Brad.

Modern installs have an electric lockoff solenoid valve at the tank and at the vapouriser. The centre of the toroidal tank has sealing covers and the lower one has a stubby (75mm) vent through the wheel well floor.

When I bought the car, the LPG fitter had wired the lockoff valve switching incorrectly and they were on whenever the ignition was on (since fixed).

The battery is not for winching, only for powering the fridge etc.
