My servicer (a LR specialist ) uses RX Super in my 300TDi
It is Castrol's better non-synthetic oil for Diesels, they also have Castrol GTX which is a bit cheaper

Not recommended for the TD5. The TD5 uses a much lighter oil. May affect fuel consumption. I used RX in the Tdi and it was great as was BP Visco and a lot cheaper than Pentrite HPR5 or Castrol 5w30, but that is the price of a high tech engine I guess.

Check the API rating, as well as the SGI, if its what is specified, use it, its all oil, and it has to pass all the tests to get rated.

GTX? Please, never use that "retreaded" %@&<> oil.
RimulaX from Shell, seems to be preety good. When working as a farm machinery mechanic, we used Castrol MP in everything. engines, gear boxes, trans-axles, the lot. Claas machines from Germany run Merc diesels, good enough for them.

    regards shorty.
