    Disco CB Install

    Hello,

I've just bought a 300TDI Disco, looking for good tips on where to install my CB, and how any one else has done it.

I'm thinking of attatching it to the little roof consol already there, seems a good place.

Also, anyone want to buy a 1992 Classic?

    cheers,

    Ray

I bought a dashpod from a company called The Department of Interior

The pod sits on top of the dash above the standard radio and can accept up to two radios or a radio and a speaker - on my one in the D2 I just have the dvd in it at the moment (too lazy to fit the uhf)

They do roof consuls as well

    Have a look at

If you have a uhf with remote head then just under the drink holder in front of the transfer lever is a good spot, i looked at putting it overhead but decided against it as then you will have the mic cord dangling and also have to rout cables up there as well.

mmm had a look at a mates one which he put overhead, looks very neat, sure you have to mess around with the wires a bit more, but it looks good.

My Rangies is in the cubby box, may look to put it in the same place as it hides away well,

Another place is on the back of the centre console. I have mine there. It is OK but you need to twist around a bit to change channels.

I hate the the mic curly cords hanging down and flapping around my head from overhead mounted radios

Mine's overhead well out of the way - bracket has 4 self tappers straight into plastic, wiring and coax is hidden in hood lining & dowm A pillar, mic cable is run over top of set leaving just enough that it it comfortably stretches when I unhook it - if I unhook it, you don't hold the mic right in front of your face anyways, drives me nutty when people do - and the mic hook is attached to the side of the set using a couple of the assembly screws. make sense? i'll take a pic if it's not. last thing i have to do is mount up a remote speaker to the b pillar, as SWMBO gets tired of the chatter - actually the swearing.
    cheers

I've got an ICOM set and it fits neatly on the overhead console. Bit more fiddling around with the wiring, but worth it in the end. I loop my mic wire around when not using the set, and the sun visor helps keep it out of the way....Cheers Chris.

thanks for the idea's folks, looks like i'll try for the overhead way.

as for the fuel economy...cant bloody wait, heading off down the south coast tomorrow for a week or so, so should be interesting....love the Rangie as i do, it's just not a everyday prospect when i'm running 5 vehicles each day as well..BP thinks i'm great though!!
