Unfortunately, hotwire EFI in that model has its own plug, not compatibl;e with the scanner. It is a 5 pin one, 2 ontop of 3. It is below column, taped to the ECU loom.
Sorry.

Can someone in the know confirm a 97 built/98 model D1 has OBD2 even though it is hotwire? It has the plug under the dash, but is it just there in readines or sumfink? I have read that Falcons are not actually OBD untill 2000 models.
Rave just tells me LR conforms to ISO9141 & the hand held scanner I have just received lists Landrover under ISO9141. It reads a BA here at work no problem but won't read a late Magna... or my LR!
Mine is a manual with no pillows & no ABS, so a little handset reader was going to be just the ticket for me. Have I just bought a nice pressy for a friend?

thanks JC, does that mean only compatible with LR hardware? Is the 16 pin under my dash a decoy then?
Is there any way for the layman to access the system for codes?
LR only become OBD2 on the D2 onwards...
Sorry!!!!

What does it actually do ? Forgive me I am ignorant. Will it be useful on a 2000 TD5 Defender?
Cheers

reads fault codes recorded when an the ECU detects a fault in engine management component.
resets the MIL/checklight on the dash, saves up to 15 logs at a time.
would be handy if say something got wet in a water crossing was my thoughts. don't know if it suits your car, better ask the gurus like i should have.
