i wish i had a reason to use my wipers and im in vic![]()

Got into the Ute the other day and turned the wipers on.
Well, I tried.
Nothing.
OK blown fuse ? Yep, so I replaced it. Then the wipers worked.
Today had occassion to turn the wipers on. Nothing.
Blown fuse ? Yep AGAIN.
As it appears its not the operation of the wipers (or the reverse light which is I think on the same circuit and I've tried it) what in tarnation could be causing this to happen.
And how would I fix that ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

We've had over 100mm since 9am this morning, so I'm glad I don't have the same problem!
(Sorry Vlad, but I can't help)
Vlad this happened to me on the County.
One possibility is the insulation on the wire supplying power between the wiper motor has worn away by rubbing against something hard. The bare wire connects to something metal and causes too much current to flow and blow the fuse. You need to check the wire to locate the break in the insulation. It can be time consuming. Alternatively replace the wire and pull the old one out. Good luck.

Well I replaced the fuse AGAIN - any bets how long it'll last this time ?

If you're sure it's only the wipers on that fuse circuit that could be the cause of the fuses blowing, then consider that perhaps it's excessive current draw by the wiper motor at start-up caused by old dried up grease in the wiper gear boxOriginally Posted by VladTepes

Take the wiper motor gear cover off/apart and clean out ALL the old grease and replace with a white grease like Valvoline "Marine X-All" [ a water proof, anti-corrosive type] or one of the Lanoline based greases![]()
