Try it...

Put it to full up and go for a drive, stick hands on vents above dash, air still comes in, and at 100km/h is quite pronounced.

Mob in Vic used to make an alloy scoop for the air inlet with a little cover to block it off when not needed, worked wonders but the tooling died and they arent making them anymore

Just finished fixing up my heater box including replacement of the matrix. The flap may not be fully closed so adjust the cable length. There is also a foam on the flap, mine was perished. Replacement makes a more positive seal. If it isn't a positive seal then heat from the matrix will transmit into the cab. The heater box is held on by 4 bolts.
Also where the box fits onto the firewall is a foam packing which may need repacking. Just brought the foam from Clarke Rubber.

I have found that if the windows are up the car doesn't leak too much air in. If any of the windows are open it just pours in from everywhere... LOL

that bit about safe is to eliminate LPG from the equation.....

Hydrocarbon gases Propane and Iso-butane are safer to use in a car than the chemical ones.

Both R12 and R134a (the later more so) is highly toxic, and despite are the blurb it will still burn - and when it does it gives off a very toxic chemical cocktail.

................but you wouldn't want to use auto/bar b q lpg in an air con as it contains too many impurities.

It was recently (last 12 months or so) that a % of fresh air by default, was not a bad thing to have, especially on heating.

I heard a discussion on this & it appears some drivers in Winter, shut off all outside air, but risk going to sleep at the wheel & run off the road, usually in the way of a big tree.

This came out about the same time Oz was experiencing a spate of unexplained "accidents" like this.

Cooling obviously is another matter.

Foud the biggest cause of aircon not working in my 130 is the rear window being adjar. Kids always open it slightly and then leave it that way.
