Compressor Clutch plate burnt out. ever happened to you?

Well as recently posted I replaced my A/C puley bearing.
All has been good till today.
I noticed smoke coming from under the bonnet and the smell of burning rubber.
After the intial panic I noticed that the rubber that holds the outer eletro magnet clutch plate had completed given way and the the plate had seperated it's retaining plate and was spinning and burning from slipping.
I managed to get home and found the rubber inner was completely gone.
Now I had the problem of trying to undo the centre retaining nut to remove it. Not being able to energize the clutch so it would stop the plate spinning.
After a bit of trying to jam various objects to stop it spinning, a small pair of vice grips did the trick holding the plate whilst I cracked the nut.
I hope an aircn place can supply me with another clutch plate or they can be recoed with another bubber bush?
Any one else had one goo on them?

Well I called into and Auto aicon place this afternoon.
Seems I had more things broken that 1st thought.
The coil had melted, the new bearing I had installed was shot, the Pulley/clutch faces were burnt.
They said they could see if they could repair it while I waited it I wanted to.
So 3hrs later, this is what they did.
Evacuated the Aircon system, removed the compressor, machined my Pulley including the belt ribs, Sandblasted it, painted it, fitted the new pulley bearing I had supplied them, supplied and fitted a new coil. Supplied and fitted a Toyota clutch plate after machining it.
Oiled and Regassed and with new 134A
    And only charged $245
